Here's a few highlights from the last month or so.
Punkin attends a ballet school where they give exams each March. The exams are a Big Deal, and there is a month of cramming and preparation. Last year, the exam was given in a group of 5. This year, it was just partners, and Punkin's dance buddy/carpooler was her partner. They both did very well, their best, in fact, which is what we told them to do! Afterwards, both families went to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch. Here's the leftover ballet hair:
Aren't they cute? In a from-the-back kind of way? <g>
I made them matching pajama pants, which they put on and wore to their tap dance class.
The fabric had ballet vocabulary words on it: retire', plie', etc. They were pretty excited. Good gift managed!
During the month of extra classes, I made this purse (ignore the bananas). I gave it to Punkin's exam coach, who was a different person this year than her regular teacher. If you look closely, you can see the black on black stripes at the bottom. I used Brown Sheep pink and Cascade black, and then when I ran out of the pink, I got some Brown Sheep black and kept striping. I like it. Subtle, but there.
Girl Scout Award night. True to form, I thought of these pots about 2 hours before the awards ceremony. I quickly called my co-leader to see if she had some play-dough, and she did! If I had given them maybe 10 more minutes of thought, I might have come up with a way to work in some flowers, maybe a fancier nametag, some candy. But there you have it. It was still cute, with all the pots lined up in a row.
Given an extra 10 minutes, I might also have cleaned the labels off the pots. Oh, well. Still cute!
There was teacher appreciation week, which I was in charge of. It took every spare second of the whole week. I was exhausted by Friday. But I think the teachers felt appreciated, so that's what counts!
Monday, I put balloons in the teacher room, then brought in chocolate chip cookies in the afternoon. Unfortunately, one of the teachers is allergic to latex, so she had an asthma attack after walking into the teacher room! Ack! I brought her a personal cookie plate to apologize, and am making a mental note: no latex!
Tuesday, the teachers got 12"x12" cardstock thank you cards signed by their students. Punkin and I hung them on the teachers' doors on Tuesday after school.
Wednesday, They got the bookmarks in the picture above. I got out my rubber stamps, some sticky stuff and went to town! I had a great time, and I think they turned out pretty cute. I want to order a PTA logo stamp for stuff next year. That should fit in the budget. I am committed to not always doing food stuff for thank yous, so the bookmarks worked well for that. In addition, another mom put together a professional-quality breakfast in the staff room. Wow! Oh, and Wednesday was also the day that we washed the teachers' cars. We decided that it was worth the rain that day, because we didn't have to dry the cars! We washed 22 cars in 75 minutes. Snap!
Thursday, the teachers got Hershey bars with thank you labels on them.
On Friday, there was a big luncheon. I did a cowboy them, and brought bandanas for decoration. We had several soups and homemade salads. I think it went well.
As I said, I was exhausted by the end of the week. Did I mention that I was also working and trying to do all my regular stuff?
Okay, I'm all done for tonight. More later, but I leave you with this:
Fala in the Fun Fur.
